Township Board of Trustees

About the Northfield Township Board

The Township Board is elected by the people. The Township Board is comprised of seven members; Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer, and four Trustees. The Supervisor chairs the Township Board meetings and the Board appoints a Township Manager to oversee Township operations.

Board members elected serve four-year terms in the Presidential Election year and their office commences at 12:00 p.m. on November 20, 2020. The Board is responsible for enacting ordinances, allocation and approval of budget, Township policy, and other items authorized by State Statute.

Township Board meetings are generally held on Tuesday evenings, twice per month (second and fourth Tuesday of every month) and start at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Public Safety Building.  The meetings are open to the public.

The Township Board is here to serve the residents.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us (see contact information below).  Each board member also has a mailbox at the Township Administration offices if you wish to provide them any written correspondence.

AGENDA AND MINUTE INFORMATION:
Prior to each meeting, agendas are available in the Northfield Township Office located at 8350 Main St., Whitmore Lake and on-line on our website's Document Center. Items are addressed in the order they appear on the agenda. To request an item to be added to an agenda, please submit an Agenda Request by 4:30pm the Tuesday prior to the board meeting.  (Regular meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month.)   Agenda Requests and/or Correspondence to the Board Members can be sent by email to agendas@northfieldmi.gov, or delivered to the township office.  Only request forms with appropriate and complete supporting background or documentation will be considered for the agendas.  Items may be placed on a workshop or special board meeting if deemed appropriate by the Township Supervisor.  Please note, while we will work to address all concerns brought to the Board of Trustees, submitting an Agenda Request does not automatically guarantee an item will be included on an agenda.

The draft meeting minutes of the Northfield Township Board will be posted on our web site's Document Center as soon as they are available.  The minutes are generally approved at each board meeting.  Minutes for meetings not on the website are available from the Clerk's office with the submission of a F.O.I.A. request.
