Amount Description
2002 AFG $19,899 Physical Fitness Program and Equipment to address firefighter Health and Safety. The department was able to initiate a firefighter health program and purchase the equipment needed to enhance the overall health and safety of firefighters.
       
2006 AFG $87,444 Emergency Medical Services Grant to upgrade Northfield Townships capability from Medical First Responders to Emergency Medical Technician at the Basic Level.  This allowed personnel the capability of utilizing Advance Airways and administration of certain Medications.
       
2008 AFG $118,275 Personal Protective Equipment and Training.  The Department was able to purchase 18 sets of Full Protective Structural Firefighting Gear.  In addition it replaced or retrofitted all of our Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).  The Department was also able to offer Rapid Intervention Training and Firefighter Safety training not only to firefighters of Northfield Township, but also other area Mutual Aid Departments.  The last component of the Grant included training to the State of Michigan Fire Officer I & II level.
       
2009 AFG $19,527 Roadway Emergency Equipment and Training.  The Department was able to purchase roadway safety equipment which included,  ANSI compliant Safety Vest, collapsible cones, roadway signage during emergencies, and an electronic message board for motorist.  The second component of the grant was the addition of retro- reflective decals that were added to the apparatus in order to promote more visibility on the roadways during emergency calls.  Eleven apparatus were retrofitted with the Chevron stripping  pursuant to DOT and NFPA standards.
       
2015 AFG Regional Grant $52,380 Regional grant for Firefighter Turnout Gear.  Northfield's portion of the grant is $70,000.  This included 18 sets of turnout gear, boots, helmet, gloves, and hoods.  
       
2017 AFG Regional Grant $224,750 Regional grant for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).  This Grant was for 25 complete sets of breathing apparatus.  
       
2018 AFG Regional Grant $79,896 Regional grant for Extrication equipment.  This was an update to 30 year old extrication equipment.  This new set is battery powered eDraulics Extrication Equipment.  Also included was several sets of Air Bags to assist in lifting vehicles and equipment.  There was also Rescue 42 Struts for stabilizing vehicles and equipment. 
       
2018 Firehouse Subs Foundation Grant $13,000 Local grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundations.  This grant was for multiple Thermal Imaging Cameras for use in structural firefighting.  The Cameras are handheld units that are utilized to locate victims in a smoke filled environment.  
       
2020 The Washtenaw 100 Grant $4,360 The grant from the Washtenaw 100 was for on scene lighting.  These units are battery powered and quicker to deploy.  It replaces the cumbersome use of generators, cord reels and lights.  
       
2023 Mi Fire Grant $6,500 State grant awarded to departments that were primarily part-time, paid-on-call, or volunteer.  The grant was for specific firefighter safety equipment. 
       
2023 The Washtenaw 100 Grant $3,600 Again Northfield was awarded the Washtenaw 100 grant to address on-scene lighting.  The previous grant showed a greater need to add additional lights to various apparatus to aid in nighttime operations.
