Announcing the Barker Rd. Play Path!

Announcing the Barker Road Play Path!

Get ready, Northfield Township! KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve through play, and the Built to Play Initiative supported by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, are helping us to bring a new, playful installation to our township to help get more kids playing! Through the community-driven design competition, we have received an award to design a Play Everywhere project called the Barker Road Play Path to make it easier for kids to play every day in an unexpected place!

We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant through this year's #PlayEverywhere Challenge. Extending from the old township hall to the Whitmore Lake Elementary School, the Barker Road Play Path will transform our existing Non-Motorized path along Barker Rd. into a fun, interactive, everyday adventure! The path will feature musical instruments, hidden painted rocks, custom benches and interactive games like hopscotch and tic-tac-toe. Due to its proximity to the school, the path can also be used for outdoor education purposes such as color identification or letter and number activities.

Updates will be posted as the project progresses, so stay tuned!
