Welcome to Frightmore Lake!

 

It is not well known, but around the time of All Hallow's Eve, a magical transformation occurs here in Whitmore Lake.  In the wee hours of the night, Whitmore Lake suddenly becomes FRIGHTMORE LAKE!  Please join us in transforming our quaint little lakeside town into a frightfully fun Halloween destination.  Many exciting events have been planned for ghosts and ghouls of every age, so spread the word!  We hope you can join us for some wicked fun!

  



  Michigan Paranormal Encounters

Location: Northfield Township Area Library
                125 Barker Rd., Whitmore Lake

Kathy Conder from Michigan Paranormal Encounters came to the library on September 9th to explain what she does, and to show the tools she uses to investigate haunted houses.  Afterward, Kathy was locked in the library overnight to conduct an investigation.    Fall Fun Fest

Cirque Amongus will be performing from 11:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. The Cirque Amongus Show is a fun combination of comedy, circus skills, and audience participation that is guaranteed to amaze and delight children of all ages.

Also from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. there will be games, prizes, face painting, bubbles, a raffle to win a Kindle Fire and FREE hot dogs!  You won’t want to miss this!

  OKTOBERFEST Fundraiser

The Whitmore Lake Chamber of Commerce and Captain Joe’s Grill invite you to Oktoberfest… a seasonal beer tasting fundraiser event (wine available too)!  Enjoy samples of seasonal beer while you enjoy an evening in the festive atmosphere of Captain Joe’s.  Proceeds from this event will go toward a college scholarship for a local Whitmore Lake High School student.  Guests can participate in a silent auction and 50/50 drawing, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Come help us support a well-deserving student!  If you are interested in donating an item for the silent auction, please contact Wendy Caverly at wendy@caerusnetconnections.com

  Halloween Canvas Painting

Ms. Antje will teach various methods of image transfer, and painting techniques on various mediums. All Pictures will be Frightfully Spooktacular.  All skill levels are welcome!



About the Artist …..Antje Bloss:
Antje was an artist at the Saarbruecken State Theatre in Saarland, Germany.  She was responsible for Prop Design and Special Effects. Her artistic skills were showcased on stage for professional Ballets, Operas and Plays that included…. Aida, Tosca, Turandot, Romeo and Juliet, Fiddler on the Roof, Viva La mama, Snow Queen and more.

  Children’s Enchanted Barn

The Fine Arts Academy will host interactive 60 minute tours through our transformed “Enchanted Barn”. The tour will feature age appropriate Halloween Fun for children ages 3-12.  Tour groups will be led by either a Fairy God Mother, a Princess, or a Superhero. This magical, interactive experience featuring Fairytale Princesses, Beauty and the Beast Characters, your favorites from The Wizard of Oz, and a stop in at the Super Hero Planet, is not one to be missed!

Fee: $15.00 per child. Adult fee $5.00. Group Rates upon request. Tickets available for advanced purchase at the Fine Arts Academy. (8 children per tour.   Pre- Registration is required. Group/Party Rates Available)

  "Mythical Evening"
   Masquerade Ball

Masquerade balls were a feature of the Carnival season in the 15th century, and involved increasingly elaborate Royal Entries, pageants, and triumphal processions celebrating marriages and other grand events of late medieval court life. Evening wear, ball gowns, Venetian masks, suits, and tuxes are what to wear to this high class night of masks and a "Mythical Evening" in Whitmore Lake. Vote for the best costume, enjoy fabulous food, and dare to put your dancin' shoes on to the band Soniq Cell (playing from 9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.). 

Get ready for a glamorous evening of intrigue, fun, and entertainment at our own Captain Joe's.
Prizes will be given for the best costume.

  Trunk-or-Treat

Location:  next to the Whitmore Lake Post Office

 
Northfield Township proudly invites the community to a "Trunk-or-Treat" to celebrate the purchase of the Northfield Community Park.

Costumes and vehicle decorations highly encouraged! Please bring treats to hand-out, and lawn chairs to chill-out.

In addition to Trunk-or-Treating, the Downtown Planning Group will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Township's purchase of this beautiful lakefront property.  The Downtown Planning Group, in conjunction with many local clubs and businesses, will have activities on-hand for kids of all ages including a pumpkin decorating station, the Whitmore Lake High School band playing for your musical enjoyment, and various vendors on-site with snacks and drinks.  So come on down for a ghoulishly good time, and visit the future site of the Northfield Community Park.

Scary Halloween Fun at the Library

Kids ages 10 and up are invited to join us for an evening of Halloween fun. We will start the evening with a theatrical make-up lesson. The experts from Astute Artistry will teach you how to make realistic scars, scabs, and wounds – a perfect addition to your Halloween costume!

After the lesson, pizza will be served and we will be showing the movie Alice Through the Looking Glass, starring Johnny Depp, rated [PG].

Café Murder - A Murder/Mystery Dinner

Café Murder, by Nathan Hartswick,(produced with permission from Pioneer Drama Service) is a one act play, which follows the possible murder of a woman by the name of Rosemary. Rosemary is celebrating her birthday at a small café with her crazy family. She leaves to use the restroom and is never heard from again. She is presumed dead.  Who did the deed? Was it her crazy sister? The charming French chef? The sarcastic waiter? The audience will be able to participate in the crime-solving as they enjoy a delicious catered dinner.
