Northfield Township Community Center


Part-time, up to 24 hrs./wk.  No benefits. 

Responsibilities:  This position will provide assistance in the daily operations of the Community Center and our Senior Nutrition Program.   This position will work with Senior Nutrition volunteers to ensure that meals are safely provided for both congregate meal and home delivered meal participants including: prepare and clean dining area; monitor food temperatures; portion and serve both congregate and delivered meals; assist participants; order meals and supplies; general clerical and record keeping.

The Community Center Assistant will also assist the Community Center Director by answering telephones;  greeting visitors; clerical duties;  opening & closing the Center;  set-up, clean-up and participation in programs and special events; and other duties as assigned.  

The qualified candidate must have excellent customer service skills, a high level of integrity and ability to work in a fast paced environment.  Must be an independent, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgment.  Basic computer and math skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn are also essential.  General knowledge of or previous experience with food service is preferred.   Previous experience working with the public and with senior citizens in particular is also preferred.   The qualified candidate must have a flexible schedule as work hours will be varied, including some evenings and weekends depending upon programming. 

Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Valid driver’s license.  Safe driving record.
